Great Weekend Breaks

Few cities in the world deliver such excitement and romance in such a compact area.  Paris, beguiles with its’ tree lined boulevards, designer boutiques, colourful markets,  iconic monuments and gastronomic delights.  Some of our favourite hotels include the 5* Le Bristol, Plaza Athenee and the formidable Four Seasons.  If you prefer a more boutique property try the 4* Montalembert or Bel Ami in the St Germain area of the city.  One of the best value for money hotels has to be Le Dokhan’s.

Myriad Travel has an exclusive offer at Le Bristol;all our clients receive a guaranteed room upgrade, complimentary breakfast, free airport transfers if staying 3 nights or more and of course VIP treatment!

This is the largest mediaeval fortified city in the world and has a spectacular position on the top of a hill.  The  ancient watch towers dominate the Languedoc landscape against a backdrop of vineyards and Pyrennean mountains.  Let us organise your weekend with visits to vinyards and trips along the canal.  We highly recommend Orient Express’s Hotel De La Cite or the fabulous  42 Victor Hugo, a boutique apartment hotel where the owners entertain you with cocktails and canapés on your first night.

Only the beguiling Dutch could have created such a fascinating city with Bohemian charm, 40 musuems including the definitive Van Gogh collection and an exotic nightlife.  Hotels on our hit list include the 5* Grand Amsterdam and Pulitzer in the Canal district or the 4* Jan Luyken and Owl in a quiet residential area.

Venice is an unfathomable experience.  This glorious city , built on more than 100 islands, traversed by 200 canals, and with over 400 bridges has some of the most exquisite hotels in the world.  The Cipriani, the most famous hotel in Venice is sheer unadulterated luxury.  Others include Gritti Palace and Bauer Il Palazzo.  Our 4* favourites include Palazzo Sant’Angelo, Londra Palace and The Metropole.  There are some very popular 3* which we love are Pensione Accademia, Bisanzio and Locanda La Corte.

There could be no better setting, on the banks of the River Arno, for the birthplace of the Renaissance than Florence, the city of Michelangelo, Da Vinci and Dante.  To avoid lengthly queues we can guarantee timed entrance into the Uffizi to avoid lengthy queues.  Our favourite place to stay is Villa San Michele, be sure to book into their cookery school.  Based in the centre of Florence the Helvetia e Bristol and Santa Maria Novella are fabulous.

This city retains an unforgettable majesty, rich with the relics of 2,000 years of history, we can help you find some wonderful  atmospheric restaurants many of which are off the beaten tourist track and can arrange unforgettable excursions.  With an abundance of hotels we recommend De Russie, d’Inghhilterra, Dei Mellini and Marcella Royal.

Lisbon is one of the friendliest, most charming, and unspoilt capital cities in Europe.  White washed houses stretch down to the sparkling River Tagus watched over by the magnificent castle – eating out is a treat with delicious fish and seafood at absurdly low prices.  Try staying at Lapa Palace, Four Seasons, As Janelas Verdes or Solar do Castelo.

This charming, unspoilt town located on the River Duoro and is the home of Port Wine – a visit to the wine cellars is a must.  Stay at Infante de Sagres, ideally located and immersed in character.

Barcelona is Spain’s second city and a modern, cosmopolitan  city with a lively nightlife and a shopping haven.  Amongst the best hotels are Hotel Arts, Mandarin Oriental and The W.  Good 4* superiors include Rivoli Ramblas, Duquesa de Cardona and Grand Hotel Central.

Dublin is one of the great Georgian cities of Europe with fine stone public buildings and tall red-bricked townhouses.  It is a youthful city with a lively social and cultural life.  If it’s the “craic” that you are going for then our knowledge of excellent restaurants and good bars will be sure to please.  Best Dublin hotels include The Merrion, The Westin and Cliff Townhouse.

A short break in this city should include at least one full day out of town exploring the Golden Circle of beautiful waterfalls at Gullfoss and Seljalandfoss, spectacular coastal cliffs with seabirds and wildflowers, geysers at Geysir and the National Park at Thingvellir.  Our hotel recommendations include 101, Borg and Budir.

Everyone is talking about this Estonian capital; the old town is full of fascinating mediaeval architecture with restaurants, bars and cafes spilling out from the lively Town Hall Square.  Tallin is European Capital of Culture 2011.  Good hotels include Telegraaf, and St Petersbourg.

The views are unforgettable, a city of Gothic spires and architectural wonders.  Hotels to discover include Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Aria and the Augustine.  Good 4 * include Grand Hotel Bohemia and The Golden Wheel.

New York

A city so good they named it twice!  This vibrant city never lets up and the zest for fun is endless.  The shopping is the finest in the world, the cocktails and bars are amazing and the atmosphere electric.  For a truly awesome experience stay at The Pierre, The Carlyle or The Plaza.  4 *’s to stay at are The Benjamin and Affinia 50.
